Fathers and Sons: You are a Blessing

Fathers and Sons: You are a Blessing
How can I be the dad you need me to be
When I do not have all the answers?

When you stare at me
Looking for a response

I say what I feel and not what I think.

Yet, is that what you need?
I share, no I give myself to you
Sacrificing for love’s cause
Gleefully accepting all of you.

You are my sunrise
And my sunset.

You are oxygen
Giving me air to breath.

You are my son.

A precious  blessing
I humbly accept.

Fathers and Sons: You’re My Heavenly Diamond

Fathers and Sons: You’re My Heavenly Diamond
My son is a great treasure
Outshining rare jewels, and large pearls.
He is a heavenly diamond
Found only in my arms.

I didn’t brave violent wars
Or shed blood to unearth him
Rather I lived a broken life
Filled with nomadic decisions.

Still, God showed me favor
Giving me what I desired most
But hardly spoke about.

The love of a son is like no other
For it is love never felt before.

I am thankful and blessed beyond measure
To experience a love so deep.

Fathers and Daughters Love Poems: Til Breath Subsides
My heart is yours baby
You hold it in your palms
Squeezing with each beat
Giving me life worthy to live.

You’re  the reason I freely give
This life of mine
To a days labor
For giving you what you need
Is a task I gladly accept.

No depths of space
 Nor tunnels of time
Will ever halt this love for you.

You’re my daughter
My little girl
Til breath subsides.

Love Poems for Mom: Product of Your Love

Why do you break your back mom,
For greedy, undeserving kids?
Why do you drop to one knee,

Pick up clothes littering the bathroom floor?
Why mom, do you wake in the middle of the night,
To care for me when I’m sick?

Why mom, do you continue to cook,

When I choose to eat out?

Why mom,

Do you give every ounce of energy,
For a son,
For a child,
Why mom?

I ask with an answer in mind.

A father myself,
I know now why you did everything
For me, for your children,

Love.

Plain and simple.

A love so pure,
So impenetrable,
That because of you
I am what I am,
A product of your love.

Thank you.

Love Poems for Mom: The Glue Holding it Together

Mom’s are glue,
Keeping life at home
As normal as can be.
Mom is gentle hands comforting me
When stupid thoughts arise.
Though I think I’m grown,
The minute adversity strikes,
I run to the person who knows
Me better than anyone else — mom,
Not because she gives birth
But because she gives her life
to her child all her waking years.
Accepting of a mom
Who truly cares,
Who constantly comforts,
Who dies to themselves for the love of her child.
Is a title mom’s proudly wear
For what she’s done for me
Can never be repaid.
I dedicate this poem.
To the rock in my life,
My mom.
